cannot change individual icons
Published on July 29, 2005 By joeyinpa92 In Icons
Hi All*,
After Tuesday's, (07-25?) upgrade to IconPackager, it seems that I am unable to change any individual icons. The only option I am able to use is "restore original". Several of the file extensions were blank, including one of the DesktopX files, all of which I was unable to change manually. Is this a known "bug"? Or, do I possibly have the IP settings done incorrectly?
FYI; I'm also on a completely new PC, a Gateway 835GM Dual Processor, Intel Pentium D, 250GB HD, Win XP Pro Media Center Edition, just under two weeks old. Yes, it is one powerful machine, and I'm not quite used to (it) yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks!

If I were you...

I'd copy all my icon themes to another folder and completely and totally uninstall IP including deleting the IP folders, reboot and then reinstall the latest IP update available on SDC. That 'should' fix any problems you've been having.

I had exactly the same problem, so think its a bug somewhere but I did the save themes then uninstall etc and it seems to work because I can change individual icons now good luck

Hey Y'all,
Well, still having the same problem with IconPackager; I am unable to change any individual icons via IconPackager. If I do try to change an icon, I end up with a blank, the only options; "apply default/current icon". Is there a fix for this? Is there a setting I may have wrong in the program?
Please, ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I found my original IP receipt, had the link and serial number emailed to me, and downloaded the last "released" version of IP. It's still very buggy! You need to apply an entire theme, or else whatever areas I have unchecked, (e.g. folders, others), go back to the Windows default! It sucks!
However, at least now, I can change indivual icons, one at a time, but that's about it.

Ive had my Gateway 835gm for about 5 months now and I've had nothing but problems with it. I've sent it into Gateway 4 times and every time they fix it it only lasts about 2 weeks. Its been anything to the hard drive to the mother board to windows crashing. I dont know about you but yeah I dont like this machine.
